Why Forest? The global community is concerned about  Indonesia forest because of their social,economic, and environmental importance for quality growth and lasting provety reduction. Forests are a national asset, a global public god. and central to the livelihoods of millions of Indonesians. Forest issues touch every segment of civil society in nearly every district -60% of the countrys land, traditonal cultural groups,religious groups, civil society organizations and businesses.
         The Indonesias forest resources are not contributing as their should to provety reduction, economic, and social development. As their country makes the transition to stabilization and growth, there is a tremendous oppourtinity to help to Government of Indonesia find new ways of managing forest areas in paternship with local communities, contributing to democracy, justice, equity, rural sector investment, jobs and grow.

Why Now? Indonesia forests sector has been in crisis for sometime, many of us believe that the likelihood of succesful outcoms is higher now than at any time in the past.This is because democratization and decentralization of government are creating positive  politial preassures.The Government is commited toimproving governance and fighting corruption. Attitudes and roles among Government , big business and civil society are changging. Local Governments are becoming more responsive and accountable. Civil society and business for more constructive relationship.In the Ministry of Forestry, a process of evolution and reform is resulting in new oppurtinities for meaningful engagement toward improed forest management.
